There is an old proverb that says: When friends ask-there is no tomorrow.
If people have a destiny in life- if God has pre-determined their purpose- if He has a reason for our time on earth, Gordon Hartman is a perfect example of God’s destiny and purpose. His passion for life is evident to anyone who meets him. He has a long list of loyal, dedicated friends and business associates.
I interviewed one such friend to get some insight into the character of Gordon. Harvey Najim simply said: “He is the best friend anyone could have,” then shared this poem with me. These poetic words summed Gordon up succinctly and came from the heart of a friend. These are words about a strong and loving man- a man who is a loving husband and father.
A Friend in Need
“A friend in need,” my neighbor said to me,
“A friend indeed is what I mean to be;
In time of trouble I will come to you,
And in the hour of need you will find me true.”
I thought a bit, and took him by the hand:
“My friend,” said I, “you do not understand
The inner meaning of that simple rhyme:
A friend is what the heart needs all the time.”
