One hot evening in San Antonio, Texas I was lucky enough to meet one young man who showed such a unique spirit; it is hard to describe.
As I began to interview 26-year-old Chance Turner, I discovered to my amazement that his entire families were heroes in their own right! As I drove home that night, I sensed I would never really be quite the same. An honor was given to me that I do not take lightly. Trust usually has to be earned, but that night it was given to me freely by this courageous family who somehow trusted me to write the truth – their truth – about personal horrific experiences that spanned over 30 years.
