A modern day prodigal, with a Cinderella ending.
The Ultimate Love Story…
Words cannot sufficiently express the power of love that sings through this amazing woman with The Goddess Voice. Her special ability to manifest the power of true love through her voice honors the purpose God has graciously given her. As she weaves her music through a seamless message of hope and transformation, Tehrah’s voice soars through her lyrics…inspiring the listener, deep within their spirit, to know God’s Grace will always carry them. There are some moments in life that defy description. One of those moments for me was when I heard God sing through this beautiful woman…
Few people in the entertainment industry stretch their understanding of their gifting to this extent. Most performers are consumed with ego, a competitive spirit and a lust for fame. But nothing could be farther from this transient illusion than Tehrah: Honored as “Artist of The Year,” at the L.A. Music Awards 2012, in the Christian Contemporary category. Tehrah will be propelled to the star-status she so rightly deserves. Winning this coveted award was a long time coming in a lush career containing many close calls of fame and notoriety. Artists who are deeply rooted in love and purpose, generally walk a very rocky road before they can embrace and accept that fame. Tehrah’s voice is a God given talent that few ever have the honor of experiencing. It took a lifetime to understand her destination and to submit to embracing the trials and tribulations that deeply bruised her spirit along the way. It was difficult to stand up and fight for what was rightly hers after suffering years of abuse as a child. But this courageous woman blocked out the voices of the world and learned to listen to the still, small voice deep inside her heart. She ultimately survived because of her gifting. She learned to look at her challenges as her greatest gifts and moved towards healing by forgiving the ones who hurt her the most. At one point, she was faced with the possibility of losing her older son to the horror of drugs and the legal system. In a 20 year span, she went through not one, but two traumatic divorces…one caused by violence (physical, emotional, mental abuse) in the relationship, the latter, more emotional and mental abuse…that ultimately stripped her of everything most people consider important. She lost all of her personal possessions…home-money-marriage-family…everything that superficially represented security, comfort and peace. In a desperate attempt to save her marriage and her older son, she even gave up singing at the peak of her career. But that still, small voice deep inside her, was always calling her name…And through its mentoring, eventually led her back to singing but this time, it would be for God.
She learned to embrace the disappointments of a shattered lifestyle and began to invite “true peace” and “real love” into her life. She took her pain and created peace and, with her sorrow, wrote some of the most heart wrenching lyrics anyone has ever heard. She quickly returned to her calling with a newfound desire to minister through song. As the dust settled from the fallout of total destruction, Tehrah was left with nothing but bittersweet memories, and broken dreams; but also the extraordinary possibilities of a new life. It was there, in the midst of total loss, she began to write and sing again. As Tehrah began to embrace her God-given voice, she started to realize this process was a journey in itself- and what a destination that journey manifested!
Her stony path has turned into walking The Red Carpet at The L.A. Music Awards as a Winner! This courageous and beautiful woman will wear a gown and diamond necklace, but it will be divinely adorned with beauty from within.
By telling her amazing story, Tehrah will inspire millions of women to step out of the shadows, into the light and into their true destiny. If SHE can do it…so can you! Real and permanent success is victory over our circumstances and Tehrah’s story illustrates this truth with candor, passion and pure love. As you begin reading this intimate interview, let the world dissolve around you. Block out what you think is right and open your heart to receive what God wants for you. The humor in a so-called “plan” will become evident as you enter this literary journey of self-discovery. Let Tehrah’s story enlighten your future with hope and encouragement. When we began this interview, I asked Tehrah to describe herself. In her usual candor and with a twinkle in her eye, she passionately replied:
“TEHRAH is more than music.” Music and Singing is my vehicle; but more than anything, I’m a VISIONARY, and I want to see REAL, lasting, sustainable change in areas like health care, education and particularly in our public schools by using art and music in unique ways to create environments that promote health and healing. We need a change in these areas of basic life that promote wellness and it’s going to take heart centered, creative people to rise up and JUST DO IT!”
“I passionately believe that to create true, sustaining change in the world, we must each take an inward journey and discover “who we really are.” It all starts within. When we each “wake up” to our true self we will realize that the systems that sustain “life as we now know it” need to change. WE, “the people,” will see that we’re the only ones who can make this change. If we continue to give our power away to outside sources: the government and people of authority like our pastors, lawyers, and doctors, then we will surely fail! When WE, the people, create change, I believe then and only then, will we see it quickly spread to the rest of the world. Just as Gandhi said, “BE the change you wish to see in the world.”
“I love to quote, “Never under estimate the power of a small group of people to change the world. It’s the only thing that ever has.” It was a small group of crazy, outrageous people who founded this great country of ours. I have no doubt it’s going to take a small group of crazy, outrageous people to make sure it remains great! Are you in? Come on! Let’s go! If not YOU, then WHO?”
