Ballet San Antonio opens its 2011/2012 season with the World Premier performance based of Bram Stoker’s chilling novel…DRACULA!
A classic, centuries old story, is brought to life through dance! Principal dancers Carlos Hopuy and Sarah Aujon portray the ill-starred lovers’ attempt to defeatCount Dracula, played by newcomer Ian Morris.
Set to a haunting score, Choreographer-in-residence Gabriel Zertuche creates a seductive and enticing mystical experience on stage. From Transylvania to the streets of London, this is classic ballet with the intensity of a novel. Patrons of the arts as well as the novice will be intoxicated by the beauty and mystical appeal of this once in a lifetime drama in dance.

This mixed-repertory evening of dance features emerging Texas choreographers working in contemporary ballet and fusion styles across a spectrum of cultures. Now a staple of the BSA season, Off Center has repeatedly made the San Antonio Express- News’ annual list of “Best in Dance.”

Learning That Moves You
Supporting Creative Learning & Arts
Education
Implemented throughout the 2011-2012 Season. In 20 San Antonio Area Schools, our innovative arts education program, Learning That Moves You, reaches approximately 5,000 K-12 youth and educators each season. We take the arts into the schools for intimate learning experiences and invite area schools to experience performing arts on stage with free and discounted tickets to The Nutcracker. Funding from the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation and the Elizabeth Huth Coates Charitable Foundation, among others, allows Ballet San Antonio to offer free tickets to The Nutcracker for those from lowincome/Title I schools. Core to our mission, Learning That Moves You has reached 22,000 youth since its inception in 2005.
